Dr. Cynthia Chalupa, Associate Professor of German, is a 2008 recipient of the WVU Foundation Outstanding Teacher Award.
Dr. Xiangying Jiang, Assistant Professor of TESOL, is the recipient of a grant from the Educational Testing Service for her research project entitled “Developing graphic organizers for ESL reading comprehension instruction.”
Dr. Kathleen McNerney, Professor of Spanish, was the invited plenary speaker at the Congrés Internacional Mercè Rodoreda in Barcelona, Spain, with an address entitled “La recepció de l’obra de Mercè Rodoreda als Estats Units.”
Dr. Valerie Lastinger, Professor of French, is the recipient of the West Virginia Foreign Language Teachers’ Association (WVFLTA) 2008 Teacher of the Year Award.
Dr. Michael Lastinger, Associate Professor of French, is the current Interim Director of the Office of International Programs.
Dr. Janice Spleth, Professor of French, is the current recipient of the Armand E. and Mary W. Singer Professorship in the Humanities. She is also the current Interim Director of WVU’s Center for Women’s Studies.
Dr. Sandra Stjepanovic, Associate Professor of Linguistics, was the invited speaker at the Sarajevo Linguistic Gatherings in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina with a paper entitled “Left branch extraction and interpretation of multiple questions.”
